Like to say Hello, I've found this forum last month, and its just what I was looking for.
I saw that I could help someone out and just joined.
I'm a 57 year old, refuse truck mechanic in central New Jersey, mostly on Macks. But my truck is a 1971 C 8000 Utility body, GVWR 33,000, I'll try to post a photo in the photo section later. It started out with a 389 gas but every two or three years the engine blew. Five years ago I install the running gear from a 1984 unit, 3208 with a Allison and a two speed rear under the body. It became a fantastic truck. But time has taken a toll on the cab, major rusting, I'm now prepping a 1987 cab for it. The cab was Ziebart, undercoated when new, so the rust is minimal and easily dealt with.
