I have a 79' F-250 custom that Iam inthe process of restoring and would like to see if it would be possible to put a Powerstroke DIesel in it. And if so the steps I would ned to take to do so.

I think that it would be very difficult, The powerstroke is a computer operated engine and it will not run without it, A better option would be to use the older 7.3 engine and add the turbo to it, The plder 7.3's did not require any electronics other then the glow plug controller witch would be easy to adapt to he older truck, Gale Banks made turbo kits for the 7.3 that really woke them up, I thought about doing this swap to my highboy but for what the engine alone cost I can buy a lot of fuel for the 460

I did a 6.9/T19 in a '75 F250 about 10 years ago. I considered doing the PSD in my current project but decided against it due to having to make all of the computers work. If I were going to run a Navistar engine, I would go with the factory 7.3/ATS turbo setup.
