EXPEDITION REAR AIR RIDE SUSPENSION SPRING

What is involved in changing the rear air ride suspension spring on my 2002 Expy? Is this a relatively easy job or more complex? Any info would be helpful. I would like to do this myself if not too difficult.

It is a walk in the park.
Just turn the suspension off before jacking, remove the tire on that side and the metal clip on the solenoid valve and turn the valve about 1/4 turn, it will pop and vent the bag releasing all the air and pressure. Then you have to look at the top of the frame where the bag is secured and using a long pair of needle nose pliers remove the spring clip that secures the bag. It should drop out then. To install just reverse the procedure.

Just remember that when the new air bag goes into place you will need to line the little nipple up with the hole in the top of the frame. If you skip this step it can cause the plastic housing on the air bag to crack. All this nipple does is to hold the bag into place.

Otherwise I agree that it's very easy to do.

In a nutshell, jack the rear of the vehicle up....then put jackstands under the frame. By using a floor jack, you can bring the rearend up to the new air spring.....not the other way around.
