Exclamation 460 Identification

Newbie here- Just recently purchased a '77 F150 Longbed, 4x4, 4" lift, 460 Lincoln engine. I've added a few mods- Edelbrock manifold and carb.

Have a few questions-

According to the casting numbers on the block, the engine is a 1971 Lincoln 460. How can I tell what type of car this engine came from, and get the factory ratings on it?

The heads are 1973 heads from the casting numbers. I'm not sure if they were from a 460 or 429. Aren't 429/460 heads the same?

Maybe a bit off topic, but also need info on how to identify the transfer case and differentials.

Lastly, I'd like to be pointed in the right direction on a new lift kit. I'm thinking a 6" lift, with adequate wheel travel capabilities to have a bit of fun with. Not knowing much about lift kits, can someone link me to any site that I can learn more about the pros/cons, types of, and such?

Thanks!

Most older 385 series engines have the "V" (Lincoln) designator in the casting code. Doesn't necessarily mean they're from a Lincoln automobile. The 385 series was originally designed for the Lincoln line but obviously made it's way into many Ford & Mercury cars & trucks over the years.

A D1 casting on the block indicates it's the mid-height (10.31") block. A D3 head is most likely a 91cc '73 head, FoMoCo's first cut at reducing the C.R. for smog purposes.

If it's a stock drivetrain then it's a Dana 44 front axle and a Ford 9" rear. Transfer case is most likely either an NP203 (Full time 4wd) or NP205 (Part time 4WD).
