Has anyone on this forum had any issues with the Melling Oil Pumps ?
I was purchasing parts last night to start re-assembling my 240 Six Cylinder after removing the oil pan for a leak. Figured I would install a new oil pump. O'Reilly's only had the Melling Pump in stock. I've read about folks having problems with this pump.
Any recommendations on where I could get an OEM pump ?
iS IT A HIGH FLOW PUMP? IF IT IS? MIGHT CAUSE TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO BUILD UP CAUSING OIL LEAKS? JUST WHAT I'VE HEARD THRU THE FORUM!....IF SO GO WITH A STOCK OIL PUMP!....
No, its a standard replacement pump. I did some research on this site and saw where folks were having a lot of problems going the high flow pump route.
I ended up checking with Dennis Carpenter and they had an OEM pump, so I ordered it yesterday.
I guess its pretty much like everything else, someone has a problem one time and thinks they are junk. All things mechanical can have issues. Usually if the issues continue, the company goes belly up...... unless they are lucky enough to have the Govt. keep bailing them out
