Manual Brakes
i just got a 1988 ford ranger to beat around in really....different then what im use to driving between it being standard and not having power steering/./.but it also has manual brakes...now it doesnt stop as quick as a power and anti-lock brake car..is there some trick like pumping it with manual brakes or maybe sumtin is wrong or do manual brakes just not react as quick?

Vehicles with non-power-assisted brakes almost always do take longer to stop than those with them. You may want to check and make sure the pads are good though. Power brakes or not, old, worn out brake pads don't work as good as new ones.
