Question fuel in water light

I have a 95 PSD and my water in fuel light came so I changed the filter, drained the bowl and fueled up fresh fuel but the light will not go off. I have checked the fuel and I can't see any water in it. any body know how to get the light to go off?

It might just need to be reset. I'd disconnect both batteries, turn your headlights on, (they won't actually light up, but will drain any residual power in the system), then turn off the headlights, and reconnect the batteries. You'll need to reset the clock, and any radio presets you have, but that'll not only reset the warning light, it'll also reset your pcm.

Question fuel in water light

I wonder will most Dealers clear the code or will they charge you a fee for it. I just wondered.

As I understand it, disconnecting the batteries will clear all codes.

Occasionally when I wash out my engine bay my water in fuel light will come on. Only makes me wonder how well if at all it works. I'm assuming when I wash it water gets in there and completes the circuit until it dries out. Maybe unplug it and plug it back in again. If nothing turns it off just unplug it and leave it alone.

That is not a good idea there, jdboy9. To have water in the fuel and no warning makes for a dead engine real quick.

theologian,

Yes that is very true, but if your truck happens to die on you that is always the first thing to check anyway. At least thats what I do, I don't trust sensors anyway.
