Just filling you all in on a little project I'm working on. Actually a buddy of mine is doing it, but I'm SUPER pumped to get these done. I've got an '02 with the work truck front end, and to put it plainly, my headlights SUCK! For the longest time I've been wanting to do an '05+ front headlight conversion on this thing, but never got around to it.
Well, my buddy owns an HID site, and has always sold me my HID's etc, but recently has started doing projector conversions for the older ford lights. Bronco's, F150's, etc. He has a Bronco prerunner that he did for himself, and all his buddies on the forum jumped on 'em and had him make a bunch for them.
These are the headlights he's been making:
So needless to say, I'm excited, I've got a set of lights on the way that we're going to try them out on. I'll keep you guys updated on how the progress goes and how they turn out. Consider this sort of a build thread
Nice looking conversion. You can buy everything to do the conversion yourself online, but its alot of work. I did it to my motorcycle, and it turned out great
What color temp HID is he running? Looks like 5000k to me..

Yea I had considered doing it myself, but again, it's a ton of work. He's done about 15 sets now for his bronco friends so he's got it down pat haha. We're going to give it a shot on the 05+ lights and see how it goes, depending on if we run into any problems, I'm sure he'd be more than game to make a few sets for the guys here as well.
And you're spot on with the light. He likes the 5000k HID's for all his stuff, I'm more of a 4300k kinda guy
So the lights showed up the other day, and we started tearing into them to see how much work it was going to be. It's going to take some finesse to get them straight in the housing, since the reflector is at such an angle. The biggest thing we were trying out today were the shrouds. It takes about an hour or so per side to open them up, which was also fun. We tried a few different shrouds, don't mind the projectors, they're not lit up despite what the pictures show, that's just the flash from my camera:
This is the smaller shroud, which is probably what we're going to end up with, it just seems to fit better overall, and won't require any cutting to the shroud. The larger one will need to be trimmed
Here is the larger one...
Thoughts? These should be done within a week or so, when we have free time to work on them. We also need to order a few misc. parts to finish the conversion. I'm super pumped!
those look nice! I have an XL model and would love a nice set of headlights, but I might just do an e-code housing upgrade, its only about $80..
Thanks! I'm excited to see how they turn out on the road. I was going to do the same E-Code headlights for now, with a high/low HID kit (same as I run on my Jeep) but decided to go for this.

Hows the HID cutoff on the e-codes? I was debating getting them but read some pros and cons about them.. Said they are amazing with HID on lows but on high it just throws the light all over the place. Whats a 4300k look like, the same color as a typical halogen bulb? I have only dealt with 3000k, 5000k, 6000, and 8000k personally. I am debating between a 4300k and a 5000k if I get HID for this truck.
