I had watched a video on youtube on installing a smoke switch on the 6.0 psd. I wanted my truck to roll coal so i installed one on my truck. I dont know if i did it right because im not getting anything. When i have the switch on the on position the turbo seems to work really well (even better than before) but when in the off position it seems the turbo shuts off or my truck isnt fueling properly. Can anyone give me some feedback on this if they have done the same thing themselves
I'm pretty sure that all your going to get is blasted about being a bonehead for wanting one in the first place. I would recommend un-doing what ever you did before you damage your truck.
There's a video on youtube, a guy just cuts the wire to the VGT actuator and puts a switch in it. Then you put the programmer on "blow the heads off" setting, punch it, and it overfuels itself. No dice if you don't have a programmer.
But the dude in the video looks like he's his own cousin, so I wouldn't trust him. Undo whatever you did fast.

It's crap like this that gives the 6.0 a bad name. How many owners really did dipwad stuff and then blame it on the engine, because they now have repair bills? I'm willing to bet more then what people on here would think.
To the OP, undo what you have done. Other then the fact of purely wasting fuel what happens is that we get even stricter emission regulations. I'm all for people doing what they want to do with their money, but if it affects my well being then I get ever so slightly disturbed by the lack of consideration for others.
at the end of the day most of us want our trucks to be powerful, and more power (than stock) is ALWAYS better however a smokeswitch does not do anything for power. all it does is make SMOKE, which some types think it must automatically make more power, or that it looks cool. if you really think its all that cool, find yourself someone whose truck really smokes, and put your face right in his tailpipe. have him make smoke for half an hour or so, then ask yourself if you still think it is all that cool. smoke is unburned wasted fuel, and unless it is because of other extensive mods you don't even get a performance gain. generally most diesel guys HATE with a passion the tuner car people that mod their cars just for looks( noisy fart can mufflers, horrible chopped suspensions, with horrible geometry etc,) and have nothing to back it up. a smoke switch falls into the same gay category
