So I have a 2011 f250 fx4. I was looking at some new rubber for her and was hoping to get some opinions.
I really like the Kelly Safari TSR All terrains. Size 315/70/17. They said they are about a 34.9 equivalent.
So what you guys think? Good tire? They hold pretty good ratings.
Do you think they will rub?
All advice appreciated!
Sorry, I should have added I plan in doing a leveling kit. How does everyone feel about the $80 or so kits? I don't plan on raising any higher. Will these do the job ok? http://www.ebay.com/itm/STEEL-2-5-LE...-/200664695844
I don't know if they make it in a 17, but I've had very good luck with the Kumho Road Venture a/t on our superduties. On our third set, two on my truck and one on one of the work trucks - we plan on putting them on every truck as their tires wear out.
i hope kelly puts out a better product nowadays. i had some old kelly safari dtr's in a stock size (265?) and they blew donkey dingles. chunked really easy, sucked for everything but dry street driving, and got me stuck and left ruts in my yard on wet grass
just sayin' you shouldn't have to pop it into 4x on flat ground with any tire, wet grass or not.
Ive installed 4 of the 2-2.5" $80-100 leveling kits in the past couple months. Seem to work pretty good. The ride and suspension geometry doesnt seem to be effected and install is easy. Go for it.

Yeah,i plan on that kit. I ordered the tires, but had to cancel the order, the 315 is a 8.5-10 or so, and the oem rim I have is only a 7.5, I didn't realize grrrr. I guess its back to square one with the tires search!
Ive had 315/75 16s on my Superduty for over 100k miles. Paul has run 305/70/16 (same width but about 1.5-2" shorter) for probably just as many if not more combined miles.
The only readily available narrower tire would be a 285/70 17 -roughly a 33x11.50
Yeah, your tire is supposed to be a little wider than the rim. Cancel the cancel There is usually a recommended rim width on the manufacturer's website as well, I don't know if that's what you were looking at.. but as long as it's within an inch or two of that you'll be fine. The tire may wear down in the center a little more if you're running full PSI (depends on how regularly you tow, I always just leave max or close to max PSI because I tow so often and you get better fuel mileage that way anyway) or you can do the "chalk test" .. draw a chalk line across the tire and find the PSI where it wears evenly across the line and find a balance between that and what is recommended by Ford, tire manufacturer, etc.

Ehh, I just did one better, If i cant get 315's on my stock rims, ill just buy rims that can fit bigger tires! Ordered a set of 305's and Black Rhino Rockwells. lol
