SO I climbed under the truck this afternoon to take a look at the cab mounts that I am going to replace... well they all look very easy to install except for one. The rear drivers side cab mount is hidden between the cab and one of the gas tanks.
Do I have to remoce the gas tank? or is there another solution to this?
If I have to remove the gas tank, what should I look out for while removing it?
Its fairly easy, look for the gas tank strap bolt on the frame. I am talking about the strap that bolts to the same crossmember that you are working on. Anyway just remove that bolt an let the tank hang from the rear, It wont hurt anything and You'll have some room to play around, without removing the tank. I just did a body lift on my 93' and I had all the room I needed.
Hey while you are down there rplacing those bushings throw in a three inch body lift. looks great.
good luck, mike.
I would put in a body lift if I had a 4x4, but this truck is for haulin my clasic cars etc... I don't think it would look that good with a a lift in it and I dont think I know of anyone that has done a body lift on a 4x2.
You do have to drop the front tank. I would suggest running it almost empty before you drop it out of there. You don't have to unplug the pump, just let it down on the front end. Just enough so that you can get to that bolt.
The ones I purchased are the "Energy Suspension" Polyurethane body mounts. You can check em out HERE . I purchased mine from a local company in Vancouver Canada, called Mopac. I don't know where you can get em if you are in the US, but if you are in Canada, go to Mopac. I paid about 85.00 CDN.
