I recently paid someone to covert from a maual to automatic. Over the past week, my truck was leaking transmission fluid. I notced that two bolts were missing in the pan.
I took the truck back to the mechanic who did the conversion and he checked everything replaced the bolts and filled it with fluid.
No leaks on the test drive but when i drove it home it really drained out /transmission degredation.
I took the truck to a different mechanic that specializes in fords. Should I have hime check any else other than the gaskets/seals?
My old mechanic swears they were replaced but I am skepticle....
In the front of the pan area....not sure if its the pan
A common place for leaks is the front pump seal. That is the seal that goes onto the torque converter. If the seal was replaced and it leaks it is likely due to a groove being worn into the seal area of the t/c. The only way that I know of to repair that is either buy a reman converter or buy the little shield that goes onto that area of the converter. Unfortunately they both require R & R of the transmission. The parts can usually be bought from any trans. parts warehouse or jobber.
