Its a little difficult to install the first time, as is getting the drivers and internet working
It installs about 5 times faster than Windows. Internet works immediately "out of the box" and there's less hardware (driver) problems than Windows.
Opensuse 12.1 installed on old Dell D-610 without a hitch via a DVD ..........about 30 min to a working desktop.
If you install Windows XP on any computer, depending on which service pack you have initially, it can take ALL DAY to get the latest updates and service packs fully installed even if you have cable and can stand the multiple reboots. If you're using DSL, it can take a lot more time that that. If you're using dialup......well. don't do it.
