Can, will, probability of low batteries cause, causing a low boost, low power episode??? If so why? Thanks in advance for any responses.
The reason I ask is for the last 4 days my X has been acting and sounding like it has in the past when a CAC tube or boot is off. I have not found any CAC leaks yet, but have a low boost and low voltage DTC. I have known for a while that I needed batteries, but put it off. When this low boost problem started I bit the bullet and replaced the batteries yesterday. I have not been driving much in the last year due to unemployment. The oil change is less than a 1000 miles old and the fuel and air filters less than 5000 miles old.
Do I need to do a relearn of a system etc.? I have a scangauge and I think that all of the readings are "normal" ie IPR 20.7,ICP 583, FVP 12.5 and FMP 47.5.
low voltage issue will cause all kinds of issues. as with any modern car/truck. the issue can seem random. the pcm requires a min of 9.5v or it will reset.
Thanks Cheezit, for the response. You go above and beyond with your help. As the saga continues I have driven it about 30 miles with the new batteries. Cranks and idles okay. On the road a different story. Still sounds like a cac leak, no get up and have to coax it through the gears. Scangauge reads 85VGT at 20 mph 60 mph or WOT. I am still getting the underboost DTC. Are the turbo vanes sticking maybe?
A kind of off subject question!! How do I get fuel to flow through the small filter housing without the filter? I have an airdog with no HFCM. The fuel goes though a water separater and another filter and the truth is I hate having to buy 2 filters when I only use 1.
Thats it if your VGT% reads at 85% all the time no wonder you have no Boost the turbo veins are not moving
Looks like to me that the truck runs ok at Idel then cuts out and runs ruff when you get on the go pedal
I assume it bblows black smoke when you get on it good

This statement caught my attention. Sorry to hear about your employment situation and hope you find work soon. However, this drives me to suspect you may have corrosion in the unison ring of your turbo.
Thank you, fellows. I thought a turbo R&R and cleaning was in my future. I will probably start Monday. I put a new oil cooler in a few months back and had planned a cleaning. I think I even discussed it with Bismic.Something came up and I didn't do it. I will now pay for my impatience and procrastination.
I will look again into the cac leak. I'm an old fart and don't hear very well. So I will use my son's ears if you know what I mean and narrow it down some.
Now there are "some" benefits to not having to get up and go to work. Monday while you guys head to work I'll head to the back yard and wrench. I was with a construction and office development company so the future is not looking so great. As Hank Jr. sang "A country boy can survive" and I'm about as country as one can be..
Another plus is, my wife has a good job and the kids are grown. My bride (just 38 years) keeps me on a tight budget but at least she hasn't kicked me out. Yet!!
While you have the turbo out, you might want to go ahead and replace the discharge CAC boot if it's still the original. Also, if you don't have a boost gauge, might want to install one so you can keep an eye on the boost.
