400m trw pistons
I have had a tmyer 400 for 10 years, I feel it is EXTREMELY sensitive to timing, likely due to the poor quench. I calculated the CR higher than advertised. It has run OK for 10+ years. I am not thrilled with the thin rings near the top, I feel the design could benefit from a few changes.
Lack of good replacement piston selection
That is one of the main problems when building a 351M- 400 Ford
Consider having a set of custom ones made
Flat top 10 to 1 is what I'd shoot for, with some valve reliefs

It is easy enough to bush the rod to use the .912 wrist pin by using a bushing that's made for a Y block. These fit right in the .975 pin holes in the rods. Then any 351C piston will work as long as it has provisions to retain a full floating pin. Not too long ago I modified a set of the T Meyer pistons for a customer who has small chamber Edelbrock heads and wanted a little lower compression. I just milled off around the outside of the dish and left the large flat quench area alone. This worked fine and if I remember right I gained about 8cc. Most pistons have enough material to allow for these modifications but you have to measure first and hopefully cut once.
