Question Help! 1995 Ford L8000 Electrical

Ok, Hi everyone. I am new, so I don't know where to post this. Here is the problem I'm having.
1995 Ford L8000, Cummings power, 7sp. 86" double bunk studio sleeper. Yesterday, 11-10-11, I run her uptown to fuel her up. This is the first time shes been on the road in a year. All my lights were working. I had unhooked my power inverter, due to working on my sleeper. Well, I hooked it up the way it was. Now I have no headlights, all my running lights are on, just no headlights. Also, my inverter spiked like it was being over powered. Checked my AMP gauge, reading over 14 volts. Could one of my batteries going bad? There are 3 of them. I used to be a certified mechanic on autos, but when it comes to a big truck, I'm lost. I was hoping to pull out on Monday,, but I may be stuck at the starting gate. Any advise??

Thanks
Curtis

had a similar problem with my F800 and turned out to be a bad dimmer switch (on the floor). This was after I replaced the light switch in the dash.

comeon just bite the bullet, and pull the plug off the switch off the floor and get the voltmeter out of the tool box and see which way to go. The head light switch circuit is the same on this truck as they were on the older cars and pickups.

Check the resetable breaker under the passenger side dash(it flips open with two screws). Also the headlight switchs are notorious for burning up on L series. better bring a jar of vasoline to the Ford Dealer. Last one I bought was almost 70$. IIRC the running lights are one a separate circut. Some of them had the running lights with the H/Ls and just the roof lights on a sep switch, some had the running lights and cab lights on same switch and H/L's on there own. Also check the terminal blocks on the front of the hood.

WOW!. OK THanks for the info. THe running and H/L's are on the same, cab lights are on a sep. I did find a relay under the dash, drivers side next to the clutch, I bumped it, the H/L's cam e on. Go figure that.
