Got the axle in adn tires mounted. Worked all teh drivability bugs out. its just a wanna be 4x4 right now. I have an E4OD for a 4x4, but i am still waiting on a ZF5. Right now i dont have a transfer case or front driveline, but its getting closer. Will be a rust free crew cab 4x4 diesel when its done.
Holes and dents. besides i have the doors from the victim truck. Bought the whole truck for $800. Kept the kingpin dana 60 adn matching 4:10 rear axle. parted otu teh rest fo the truck adn made more then the $800 I paid for it. Was a centurion custom so it has alot of nice features. Rust got teh best of it tho.
I really wanted a crewcab but the closest one in my price range was a 6 hour drive and going really cheap. sounded almost too good to be true and I didn't want to drive 6 hours to find out that it was. I ended up settling for a '90 supercab F250. I live in an apartment so I can't take on any serious projects like that or the property manager would crap a brick. maybe in a few years I can trade up to a '95-97 crewcab powerstroke 4x4.
Anytime. I took good progress pics. Plan ahead and remove the rivets adn replace them with 7/16 bolts so when your ready to start the old parts just unbolt. Drilling and grinding the rivets was the worst part of the entire process.
it took 2 full days to swap the front. I could do it faster now since I know the routine.
On 10-22 you said you started the swap. On 10-24, in another thread
you said-
''Sitting on her own weight, bleeding the brakes and hooking up the front sway bar are the only things left.''
Looks like it took you 3 days to get almost done with the axle swap.
By the way, Nice shop you work in there.
Did he say two consecutive days? No. It's good to see somebody doing this type of work outside. Proof that you don't need a huge shop and a lot of specialty tools to do this type of work.
