My truck is all stock with 239 flathead, 3 speed, and dana 44. The most modern thing on it is radial tires and I am saving for bias ply in spring.
My other car is a 69 beetle with a 67 1500 and a 4 speed.
No overdrives, a/c, power steering, power brakes, or even disc brakes here

the french blocks according to 'motor books' is not a great choice given we still have a lot of good motors here ..and they are 3,100 bucks each ..also they are set up with the earlier style with the integral bellhouseing ..pre-49 style ..and as you have a 53 you will want the newer 49 -54 style (canada stay's with the good stuff longer ) take your time and look around there are lots of goodies around to build up exactly what you want ...
