Actual mileage

Is there a way to determine how many miles are on a 1983 ford f150 4X4 beyond the obvious odometer?

The odometers on our trucks go to 99,999.9, so we are limited, but one can tell alot by looking at the "rubbing blocks" where the rear brake shoes rest against the backing plate. If they show considerable wear, one can guess that the truck has considerable mileage, but exactly how much, no one knows. Although easily replaced, the brake and clutch pedal pads show mileage as well. If a manual transmission equipped truck, the clutch pedal pad normally wears out long before the one on the brake pedal.
