No glow plugs ?????

No glow plugs ?????
Ok.... A friend of mine, no , scratch that. A guy I know, owns a 07 or 08 not sure which, f350 dually. I was talking to him yesterday about the size of the stancor gpr that my son just purchased, and he interrupted me and said " I dont have glow plugs!" Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I dont know everything about diesels, but is there a mod or a reason why a diesel would not have glow plugs? I thought all diesels had glow plugs! Hell, My dad had an 88 Olds Tornado diesel that I'd swear had them! Is this guy right, or is he clueless?

6.4 I assume? He has GP's but he does not have a relay like yours it uses a GPCM. Ask him if he waits for his "coil" light to go out when he starts it? Unless its a Job 2 truck then its kinda idiot proof, turn the key and the truck takes over.

Not all diesels have glow plugs. I read somewhere that usually glow plugs are used on indirect injection diesels but they are used on direct injection too. Many direct injection diesels don't have them. Heat is created to start combustion just from compressing air as the piston comes up.
