My glow-plug relay has been on its way out for some time now, so rather then fighting to get the truck started after I get off work every day I decide to just replace it with a cheapy till I order a Stancor.
So I head to the O'Rileys to get a GPR-109 equivalant.
(PN# GPR7 at Advance and O'Rileys, $20)
So after the kid gets the part for me he says to me.
"Arent Glow-Plugs radioactive?"
.... Yes I know they just hire people off the street with little knowledge about cars, but that had to be the qoute of the day...

Thats great. Most Advance employees are morons. Napa's parts may not be what they used to be, but at least they still have real, knowledgeable counter people
This claims a "Lifetime warrenty" . The local Advance has always honored that on Alternators and Brake Pads, we will see how they do when this relay inevitably goes bad.
I try to get parts from my local IH pusher, but they have odd hours, And it doesnt help that my railroad hours seem to always put me at home when they arent open...
Its really bad when you go into Autozone and can operate the system better then the guy behind the counter. I've even gone and got my own parts before from the back when they were busy.
Our local Napa has all old men working behind the counter. They lack on personality, but make up for it on getting the correct parts everytime.
Advanced is hit or miss. There was a manager (moved down south) that was on top of everything and would give me a 10-15% discount everytime I was in there. Now, there is a bunch of mis-matched people from smart to worthless.
Autozone is ok around here. Don't buy much at all from them, but seem like they got their stuff together.
It's always good to have a "diesel mechanic" friend who can get IH parts at cost or dirt cheap from his work. Saves me a ton of money.
I have already gotten 8 under warantee from Napa ,,,
8? !!! time for a Stancor I have had mine for the past 2 winters no problems so far. I had to do a parking lot starter change yesterday, and O'reilys was the only thing within walking distance. had to get new rather than reman cause thats all they had. aside from breaking the top inboard bolt off it didnt go too badly. now i gotta drop it out again and try to remove the busted bolt.
