Turn Key = No Start - - HELP!!!!

Hey All,
My truck does not want to start, I replaced the Starter Solinoid and it still does the same thing. When I take a screw driver across the solinoid I can get the truck to turn over, but the key does not make the solinoid click. When I turn the key my electrical system will start I.E. radio, wipers ect. All of my connections are clean and tight and all fuses are in tact. What else could this be???!!!!

Thanks!

Ryan

Turn Key = No Start - - HELP!!!!

First off, check to make certain that the solenoid is actually working. If you can get the truck to start by jumping the terminals on the solenoid, you are bypassing the solenoid coil. Can you hear the solenoid move (click) when you turn the key to "start"? The casing of the solenoid is usually the ground on them so if they don't have a good strong mounting to the fender, they will work intermittantly at best. Are you getting power to the solenoid coil when you turn the key to "start"? The easiest way to check this is to pull the positive wire from the solenoid and using a test light or meter, check to see if you are getting power when the keyswitch is turned to "start". You will most likely need an extra pair of hands to turn the key for you while you jump the test light leads between the pos. wire for the solenoid and the frame of the truck (ground). BTW when I say the pos. wire I am talking about the small one on the solenoid. I would check a service manual or wiring diagram to make certain which wire comes from the ignition switch. Once you have determined that, you can check to make certain there is power coming to the solenoid from the ignition switch.

Well,
I have figured out it must be the starter switch, anyone who can give me some help on locating this "switch" and the process or removal and installation would be a big help.

HELP!!!
