I’m not sure how to classify this so please bear with me.
Ever since I’ve had my ‘10 XLT Screw I’ve notice something that I can not understand. During the day I have always turned on my marker and driving (fog) lights. I’m very much a creature of habit. When I get to where ever I’m going I turn the lights off and then I turn the ignition off. When I get out of the truck the marker lights are on for a short period of time. I lock the doors when I push the button on the keyless entry remote and notice the brake lights flash bright. All of this seems normal to me. Now for the phenomenon. Just a few minutes ago when I got out of my truck the marker lights were not on as they usually are. This has happen maybe 2 or 3 times since I’ve had my truck. Does anyone know what’s going on here? Has anyone else notice this?
Did you maybe stay in the truck for a extra few seconds and they turned off before you got out?
Nope! I've timed the lights and I think they stay on for about 2 minutes if I remember correctly. I had thought of that but that wasn't the case today.
The main reason I notice the tail lights is I'm deaf in my right ear and have lost about 35% of the hearing in my left ear. I no longer can count on being able to hear the doors lock so I look at the tail lights every time I get out of the truck.
It depends on if you turn the lights off before or after turning off the key. If you turn the key off before the lights, they will probably stay on, turn the lights off first, they will go off.
Give it a try. It's just a theory.

As I said in the original post. I'm a creature of habit. The lights always get turned off first and then the ignition but I'll try your theory.
The reason I know I turn the lights off first is because I hate hearing the ding dong if I have left the lights on and then open the door.
Check and make sure all of the doors actually lock. I know my wife's hyundai will not flash the lights and beep if one of the doors does not lock when the remote is triggered. IT was a problem fixed under warranty. IF yours is not locking the doors on the first or second push of the button, first check the settings on the dash computer and then if that is set correctly call the dealer to get it fixed.

I think you may have misunderstood my original post. The marker and cargo light normally comes on as soon as the drivers-door is opened. I was talking about a few rare occasion when that didn't happen when I opened the door to get out.
What "settings on the dash computer" are you talking about?
I have 2011 Screw XLT and in the center of the gauges there is a vehicle information display. The display has multiple settings and information on the vehicle. The vehicle settings can be accessed from this display. Check to see the delay setting for the lights when the vehicle is turned off and also check to see the number of steps that are set for the locking of the doors with the remote. These items can affect the way the lights stay on and if they flash when locking the doors.

I wouldn't swear to it but I don't think my 2010 has that.
as a creature of habit myself, I recomend you keep a hand on the truck as you hit the lock button, you will feel if it locks or not and see if that helps troubleshoot the issue...maybe the remote battery is going weak and not locking
And I also double press that lock button all the time
as for the markers not lighting up .....? key in/out ignition as you open door....I have auto lights on and DRLs so my headlight are always on, markers go off as soon I hit lock and headlight stays on for awhile and can set manually the length of time they stay on for
sorry I ment the markers blink brighter and then turn off about five seconds after
I've never had the issue with mine, but I'm pretty sure you can get to the setting from the dash screen. However, if you haven't ever touched the setting, nothing should have changed. This is quite the anomaly after all.
