Why have Cool Stuff?

Well it happened to me last night in the parking lot of the Oshawa Ont YMCA between 8 and 9:45pm. Ripped off !!!! "He, she, they, scum" smashed out my driver side no draft window and made off with my Sony Explode CD,MP3 deck, my 5 week old Texas Ranger 6900F-150 CB, (note the F150 # in that model # it stands for 150watt built in amp) 4 store bought CD's and 6 that were home made, 1 pair of $240 prescription sunglasses. And to top it all off, all 4 stereo mount clips were broke off. And while helping themselves to my roof mount CB they put 4 gapping holes in my inner roof panel and yanked half my head liner down.

While this low life took the luxuries that I worked hard to own "he,she, they, scum" also decided to rip off my right tail light cover?????.

So I call the police, the person on the other end said we'll take the report over the phone. Well at this point the phone will not do. I drive 2 blocks to the police station and wait from 10:15pm till 12:00am for them to bring a car in off the road to file my report. I guess the 20 some odd cops at the station were far to busy to handle my petty little problems.

Now to make matters worse my Insurance co is sending me to a Dodge dealer for the estimate, that's who they deal with in Port Perry Ont. Why not the use our Ford dealer for a Ford? But the good thing is I can take it where ever I want to get the work done.

I think I'm done with high end stuff! Maybe I'll just take the cash and put in an 8-track player and a Barbi walkie-talkie and wear kiddie sunglasses out of a Happy meal!

Thanks for the ear ya all. I needed to share this and vent!!!!

I'm assuming you don't have receipts for some of those products, and can claim a somewhat high replacement cost. Go online, find the most expensive price for the product, and claim that as its value. This might help defray your deductible. On a situation such as this, I would expect that it would NOT raise your insurance rates; every state is different, though.

Get all your costs ready, and go to a few body shops ASAP. Get written estimates from the more expensive places. I'm assuming your insurance company wants you to go to Dodge so they can act as their insurance adjuster? In any case, bring all your receipts, quotes, estimates, etc. with you so you can argue a higher settlement with them.

BTW -- Sorry for your loss. If you find the scum that did it, let me know & I'll hold them down while you beat them like a redheaded stepchild. For future reference, get a security system. I like the kind that do away with the stupid siren & electrify the whole vehicle instead.

I've got the receipts for everything, so no problem on replacement. It just really tic's me off! I just bought that Ranger off my bud that's driving my truck for me while I'm off. ( He found it to be to confusing! "Greenhorn" ) It's only been in my p/u for 4 days I was just getting the hang of it. He bought new it in Barstow CA five weeks ago for $429.00 US with some small mods done to it of course.

Now I've got to wait till he gets another load down that way if I want another! ( I think I'll call dispatch tonight before he leaves ) I made some calls to some of the CB shops around here and their price was over $1000 cdn. Lucky he kept the receipt, we usually don't when we buy big truck stuff in the states it can be a real costly pain with Canada customs on the return trip. We usually install it and forget about it!

I might just take the cash on that and by the best I can find up here in my neck of the woods. $429 US works out to a little over $700 Cdn. So I'll leave a little out of that for some type of alarm system.

My insurance co said my rates wont go up as this is my first theft claim. And Port Perry's a small town and I know the owner ( played hockey together for years) and most of the staff of the dodge dealer their sending me to for the adjusment. So I'm not to worried about them low balling it.

I guess I'll take my wifes car to the Y for now on.
