I have gotten fuel at turkey hill twice now. Both times I leave and within miles I'm spewing white smoke. I continue until I get on it and blow the crap out. Doesn't happen with any other gas station. Any idea what might be going on? It's fine the rest of the tank.
Unrelated(I think): My local hess station has replaced their strait diesel with a 2% biodiesel mix. Time to run a tank or two and replace some fuel filters.
2% Bio diesel wont do much as far as cleaning. Sure it will get some stuff, but replacing the filter would be a waste. Look for a higher concentration biodiesel and run that.
I use diesel kleen every time i remember to do so. Unfortunately I'm not very good at remembering. automatic transmission fluid?
Yeah, automatic transmission fluid. I dont have a 6.0, and I have heard that they dont run as well on it, but ask around and I'm sure it can be done.
Anyway, the 7.3 can run on used (filtered) ATF up to 90/10 ratio of ATF to Diesel without major differences in the way it runs. Personally I have never run that much. But I did run a tank of 50/50 ATF/Diesel. Theres a lot of info about it over in the Alternative Fuels section.
Holy crap, I have never heard of this... Any old ATF or certain forms? A buddy has a garage, I'm sure I could get barrels of it cheap. I could just pour it into a half full tank and go? Filtering it first of course.

Any 'ol ATF. You need a pump of course, and a filter. Not a screen. An actual filter. At least 10 micron. 3 or 1 micron would be better, and aren't much more expensive.
That's freaking brilliant. There's 2 tranny shops in the area and my buddy's general mechanic shop. I'm going to read up more and see if ANYONE has done it on a 6.0. That's awesome info, and that pump is a good deal too.
