Do cats affect sound?
I got a 79 f150 with a 351. I had an idea the other day to hollow out my catalityc (however you spell that) converter. I went to the local muffler shop and asked the guy if this would increase the sound at all. I want my exhaust to be loud, but still keep mufflers on. Im only single, completly stock, exhaust other than a flowmaster which is a couple years old. So was the guy lying to me so that he wouldnt get in trouble, or is he right? Thanks!

yes, they make a big difference...when i got my exhaust on i had them remove the 2nd cat and it was nice but now my 1st cat crapped out on me and my trucks 3x as loud, so yea they make a big difference.

There is a way to take every cat off every vehicle, just cant do it at shops and sumtime you may have to over ride an o2 sensor but that isnt to particularly hard for a friend of mine to do, you get WAY better sound, better HP and better mileage, cats are all together a waste of space
