I think you could make a mount that bolts to the floor and puts the radio flat against the front of the seat pretty easy. Last pedestal mount I bought was junk, made out of pot metal.

On my 1980 and 1985 pickups, I mounted a slim line-CB sideways between the kickplate molding and the emergency brake. I mounted the bracket to the molding piece. It just fit and looked pretty good. On my 1983 Bronco, I mounted the CB to the front of the console.
I got my galaxy mounted same place as 9wire..not a whole lot of alternatives unless you go to a Uniden Pro 520(it's the smallest radio) that can be mounted in the ashtray but then if you need an ashtray???? I have the same problem at work with my big truck,,the cb cubby hole is not big enough for my general lee so it's screwed to the dash
Got mine from g.I. Joe's. I happen to be a big fan of Sparky, best in the business as far as I'm concerned.
That's good to know. When I step up to the Galaxy DX 979, I'm planning on having Sparky's put in dual mosfet finals, Schottky diode, and unlock the clarifier. And then when I get it, I'll send it right back to them to do both Top Gun mods, since apparently they can only do the Top Gun mods on radios that have been sent in.
Looks good. I see you got a Midland. Good choice. That's all my dad would have back when I was growing up. In fact, I use an old Midland 23 channel mobile CB here at home.
