today i was under my truck its a 1979 f150 and i noticed that allmost all of my floorboards are rusted out The most part of the rust is down where the seats bolt down and where you put your feet but i can buy a patch for that. My main concern is where the rust holes are by were my seats bolt and around the edges of the floor boards. there a few holes now not that big

I would cut out the affected areas and weld in new sheet metal, making sure I removed all of the rust. Or you could use a rust stopper? I have no experience in these products but I am sure someone else here does.

I am currently replacing the floor for a friend in his cancer riddled suburban. Does anyone know what thickness the sheet metal should be for the floor? Went to the steel shop today and priced some sheets out but want to get the correct thickness before sending him to buy some.

my suggestion for picking up sheetmetal for patchwork, goto a local bodyshop. Most places have to pay to have this stuff removed, I do anyway and would LOVE to give it to somebody, Look for a hood or something with flat areas, If you have to take a fender or something, it'll work just have to be flattened out and may be a little thinner due to the stamping process.

Since the rust is in the seatbelt areas, I would replace with new metal. Rust can really weaken metal and that is one area you dont want weakened. After you patch, then treat the Whole floor with pro15 (or similar) and undercoat. Hope this helps!

Amen to that. I cut out a large section of trunk lid, hood, and both fenders from my donor car before sending it to the crusher. Figured I would never know what I would find once I started removing paint on the old truck. Turns out, I needed several thin strips to replace the pitted steel around the roof cab and the floor panels needed a couple of small extensions welded on to fit proper.
