I think it was just the other day that I was joking around here, that I would never have to worry about blowing a boot clamp, because I had bought spares. Usually the stuff you prepare for, never happens.
Anyway, my wife thought I was nuts because I was smiling at her while I worked on it. I don't normally like suprises.
After blowing two of 'em on one of my old KW's I learn the exact tools needed to swap on the side of the interstate. Though this was after the shop replaced all the rest. Two spares under the jump seat and never needed 'em the 200k miles I drove the truck after that.

A spare FICM? That's allot of money to have tied up on a road trip that you may or may not need. ICP sensor, sure...makes since; but a FICM (to me) is sort of like carrying a spare alternator or water pump.

That's why I have a first aid kit, 2# fire extinguisher, spare fuel filters, and the clamps. Needless to say I've never needed 'em; though a spare injector sure would have been handy 3 months ago.
Let's face it, those of us that have been married for more than a couple of years...our wives know we're nuts. They're banking on the crazy check for a steady income.
Nice, thanks so much. Think I only need 4 clamps but I'm sure Clay will know.
There are four boots (two clamps on each boot)...[1] Turbo to CAC turbo; [2] CAC tube to intercooler (hot side) [3] intercooler to CAC tube (cold side) [4] CAC to intake elbow. The two on the hot side (turbo & CAC tube hot side) are most effected by the oil vapor from the CCV.
But yes, Clay will make sure you've got everything you need for your project.
had the same thing happen to me in a 916 with a d9 bulldozer on the lowboy about 50 miles away from anything (bad timing) we took a tourniquet and put it on held like a charm all the way
I've seen more than one of those clamps break in exactly the same place. There is a truck parts dealer here that has some good quality (and cheap $$) replacements here.
