I was behind a new 6.7 F-250 on my way to Home Depot. Single 6" stack coming up from the bed. It had one of the worst exhaust sounds that I have ever heard. It sounded like it was gasping for air.
I won't lie, I'm not a fan any way shape form or fashion for stacks and I don't know if there is something else going on with that truck specifically or if it was a bad install on the exhaust or that's just how that engine "reacts" to that type of system. It just down right sounded bad. I know there is still a lot of subjective thought when it comes to exhaust tones, but I would like to think that most on here wouldn't have liked how it turned out.
I walked past a stock F350/F450 outside a convenience store this morning. I know it was running because I could hear a very fant rattle under the hood...but the E250 we were in was louder than the 6.7L...and the van is stock. The exhaust had a muffled down turbo sound to it. No whistle or turbine sound like a straight pipe'd 6.0L sounds like. This more or less sounded like a large volume of air getting forced through the exhaust.
In my opinion, stacks on anything other than a Class 7/8 truck just looks silly. And they dang sure don't sound as good either. But that's just me.
Search YouTube for videos of straght piped 6.7's. They sound like a really cool blender, but not a good truck. I think ill upgrade to a 2007 low mileage 6.0 when my 04 dies on me.
i like the sound of a 6.7 with an exhaust system on it but i hate stacks! im sure this guy did something to it and screwed it up but HE thinks it sounds good. but personally the sound of them sounds cool with the mbrp exhaust. and from what ive seen the 6.7 has proven its self. i havent seen hardly any down.
6.4L is the sameway Benny. I know of 2 that have went down b/c of water in fuel. From what I have heard. It only takes 2 teaspoons of water in the fuel pump an it locks up. One of the guys locked up an broke 1 rod an bend, I think he said, 6 others.
I just couldn't bring myself to drill 2 big holes in my bed!
Well this particular truck was only have the damage to the bed, but I couldn't use doing it period. If it makes "you" happy to do it then that's one thing. I just can't doubly see it now. It looks awful and the sound (based on the 6.7) was awful to match. Uggh.
