Why just type in Does it every time. it's "O o ." without the spaces. I got it from the emotion icon shortcut menu you get while creating your post.

Alright guys. Having worked in the detroit auto lines I can tell you first up that you would be somewhat leary of buying a ford or any other american car if you knew what really goes on in those plant lines. Especially after lunch hour. I think Fords new 6.0 engine may be a good one. Its too soon to tell but having tested it myself and driven that truck it doesn't take much to see that Ford uses a lot of cheap plastic parts and the truck does not feel as sturdy and solid to me as a dodge ram does. I've tested both.

Chevy? They don't know how to make a real pickup if you ask me.
When you're buying a heavy duty work truck ground clearance is a given. Wake up Chevy you're scraping the asphalt!

Looking in the dealer lots one thing I noted was how even the new Fords were rusting on the pipes already underneath and how there was no- such signs under the dodges. I own a Super Duty but overall Its going to be the last until I see quality all around and not just focus on the engine

I have experience with all 3 makes gentlemen.

And I'm sure I'm not alone in this, many of you have probably walked away from your experiences with other makes, with the impression that Ford makes the best truck...period.

Some may not have experiences outside of Ford at all, and insist Ford must be the best anyway because Dad drove a Ford and thats that.

Then there are the few like myself who feel that no one manufacturer makes any one product totally and completely superior to another. I'm sure we've all had some good and bad experiences with all of the big three, and for some of us it's bound to have been better/worse than it has been for others.

Myself, having worked with 2 towing firms, on my fathers farm, in landscaping, in the family construction business, with race horses, and doing what I currently do-windows/siding, I have been around a great many trucks. I've seen too many good examples from each to let a few rotten apples ruin a brand for me.

My worst truck I've ever personally owned was a Ford, it had an engine that blew on me which was a direct result of Ford trying to save a buck, and being lazy. I replaced the engine and then sold it for 6000.00 (engine set me back 3400.00) just to be rid of it.
But that did not stop me from buying another Ford-past experience did not fade away. I had also considered Dodge and Chevy as well, I got the best deal on the Ford, and it works for me

I know most here do not share my optimisim for the other two brands, and I try to be respectful of that -I never mention another brand truck outside this forum unless theres a specific question regarding another brand in another forum(like my post in towing).
Being a Ford truck owner I feel I belong here, and I would also feel the same way if I owned a Chevy or Dodge.
This is a Ford site I know, but that does not mean that theres nothing to be learned here for owners of other makes-even inflammatory posts can sometimes yield great amounts of information.

It is a credit to this site, and our webmaster that so many owners of other makes flock here for conversation. This is without a doubt the best truck site on the web.
The TDR is a good informative site also-but it's limited-if you don't own a Cummins you own junk-that's the motto. I like Cummins just fine-I actually prefer it, but those guys are way too narrow minded to ever objectively look at the pro's and con's of all the different truck makes.

Hope I've helped you to understand a bit more why Ford owners like me who occasionally defend other vehicle makes frequent this site so much!

Regards.

I have driven dodges and chevys and I am impressed with them .
I am not impressed with the Independent front suspension on the chevy 4x4s . At the same time I find the 80's model ford truck's front suspension's lame too ( I sound know I own a 1989 4x4)
The dodges I find their track record for transmissions very disconcerting . But when they work they work very well.
It is all personal preference . My first vehicle was a 1978 Ford F100 2 wd (base model , lol really a fun truck) since then I have really fallen for those 73-79 trucks . I owned a 1989 s10 blazer with a 4.3 nice little truck but too many miles for the tranny ( 194,000) and it died ( I am sure my heavy foot didnt help)
I can apreciate all of the big 3 companys as I have driven them ..
The 4x4 chevy I mentioned was a vortech 350 and very impressive , but chevy just isnt me . I dont really mind what I drive as long as it get's me there but I prefer the fords .
I think that if chevy and dodge owner's come in here and bash fords that is;nt cool and its really immature . I don't go on their sites and bash them so grow up ..This is a ford site if you own a chevy or dodge, but like ford's then you are Welcome in my book!!! Now that I think of it this is supposed to be The Ford verses the competition not dodge, chevy , cummins ,duramax, verses FORD! lol
Jon

I like this site but I would not call it the best, but I would not call it the worst for I have been to MANY really bad sites that have no control and no point. If I say anything inflamitory I'm sorry we all have our good and bad days. I have been on TDR and think they are a bunch of little girls that just want to fight. If you canget through the BS then it is a good site. I just don't see paying the money for it. I like this site because it does have good info and If something new comes out on a new ford then I want to know so I can go and test it. I like the big three and yes they all have there downsides. But to each his own.

I was on a very good old tractor site for a time, set up simmilar to this one, only it catered to all makes, and you always had a few that thought their exhuast didnt stink and their brand did no wrong. You could probably guess which color they were. Anyway, responses were totally getting out of control, it was basicly a free for all with no accountability. Oh, the moderator would come back and say you cant say this or that and erase the offensive message, but it still went out of control, then one day the powers that be wiped the slate clean and no-one could transmit a message without registering. So it could be worse here, and anyone with a little sense will tell you that "their brand" made "junk" at one time or another. I guess some people have to knock others down and toot their own horn to justify their means trying to make their own mistakes seem smaller. My 2 cents

In my opinion, IH loyalists seem to be the most "enthusiatic" about their machines, it always happens, all the IH drivers at a tractor pull will brag about their machine, but when it all gets serious, the green kills them, as well as the blue (think real hard on that one). My personal favorite is, of course, John Deere, but I do like Ford/New Holland because of their utility value (cheap and reliable), the 8n design was very effective. Just think a minute, legendary tractors: what's the first one to come to mind? With me, it's the John Deere 4020 Diesel and the 5010, Ford: the 8n and 9n and 3000 series, IH/Farmall: the Cub and 140, MF: the 35 gas and 135 diesel. Personal favorite: JD 4020.

I like the old JD but the new ones do not impress me. we bought a 770 JD and we use it for are grave digging business. so far we have had to replace the back hoe after one year of work. our old JD lasted a lot longer. 5 years is how long out old JDlasted. we have ran IH for many years and never had any problems. As for our tractor pulls the jd's muct be sick because in the last three years IH has won hands down.

Pretty much my whole life ive owned camaros, cuz i love em they are great cars but my grandpa and my friend both have F150's..my friend has an 88 XLT with the 300-6 and my grandpa has a 91 XLT with a 302 and when i said i was lookin for another car they both swayed me towards gettin a F-150 too. but honestly i can say im SOOOO soo soo happy with my truck...92 F-150 300-6 5 speed. i mean goin from a camaro to this 300-6 that everyone says will last me forever....i dont think ive never owned a vehicle that im this confident with to get me from michigan to california in.

the point is im glad i was so openminded about buying this truck because even tho i was so biased against fords being a chevy guy there seriously isnt a day that goes by that i dont thank myself for buying such a dependable vehicle...and a 92 at that...i mean how many 92s can you hop into and not worry about anything going wrong?

Amen chas! My dad has always driven ford vans, but we've had trucks, cars, you name it from all the "big 3" I have to say tho, the ton of gravel in the back of my half ton ford truck sold me, when we got up to 45 mph no problem and were able to stop it no problem. It has just been that Chevy is about half a truck, and dodge is a bicycle. I only drive ford ;cuz they're the only make that hasn;t let me down, not even my 82 15 pass van with 170k miles on it and bad wrist pins. Darned thing was like the energizer bunny, kept going and going and going.... we had a dodge caravan with a 2.2 in it put about 600k+ on the thing did start to smoke till about 500090 miles then we traded it on the biggest POS ford we ever owned. So I can say there are and always will be good ones and bad ones in all makes...... including imports, but let's also remember that nissan is owned by FORD and Toyota is owned by Chevy.
