Chevy? They don't know how to make a real pickup if you ask me.
When you're buying a heavy duty work truck ground clearance is a given. Wake up Chevy you're scraping the asphalt!
Looking in the dealer lots one thing I noted was how even the new Fords were rusting on the pipes already underneath and how there was no- such signs under the dodges. I own a Super Duty but overall Its going to be the last until I see quality all around and not just focus on the engine
And I'm sure I'm not alone in this, many of you have probably walked away from your experiences with other makes, with the impression that Ford makes the best truck...period.
Some may not have experiences outside of Ford at all, and insist Ford must be the best anyway because Dad drove a Ford and thats that.
Then there are the few like myself who feel that no one manufacturer makes any one product totally and completely superior to another. I'm sure we've all had some good and bad experiences with all of the big three, and for some of us it's bound to have been better/worse than it has been for others.
Myself, having worked with 2 towing firms, on my fathers farm, in landscaping, in the family construction business, with race horses, and doing what I currently do-windows/siding, I have been around a great many trucks. I've seen too many good examples from each to let a few rotten apples ruin a brand for me.
My worst truck I've ever personally owned was a Ford, it had an engine that blew on me which was a direct result of Ford trying to save a buck, and being lazy. I replaced the engine and then sold it for 6000.00 (engine set me back 3400.00) just to be rid of it.
But that did not stop me from buying another Ford-past experience did not fade away. I had also considered Dodge and Chevy as well, I got the best deal on the Ford, and it works for me
I know most here do not share my optimisim for the other two brands, and I try to be respectful of that -I never mention another brand truck outside this forum unless theres a specific question regarding another brand in another forum(like my post in towing).
Being a Ford truck owner I feel I belong here, and I would also feel the same way if I owned a Chevy or Dodge.
This is a Ford site I know, but that does not mean that theres nothing to be learned here for owners of other makes-even inflammatory posts can sometimes yield great amounts of information.
It is a credit to this site, and our webmaster that so many owners of other makes flock here for conversation. This is without a doubt the best truck site on the web.
The TDR is a good informative site also-but it's limited-if you don't own a Cummins you own junk-that's the motto. I like Cummins just fine-I actually prefer it, but those guys are way too narrow minded to ever objectively look at the pro's and con's of all the different truck makes.
Hope I've helped you to understand a bit more why Ford owners like me who occasionally defend other vehicle makes frequent this site so much!

Regards.
I am not impressed with the Independent front suspension on the chevy 4x4s . At the same time I find the 80's model ford truck's front suspension's lame too ( I sound know I own a 1989 4x4)
The dodges I find their track record for transmissions very disconcerting . But when they work they work very well.
It is all personal preference . My first vehicle was a 1978 Ford F100 2 wd (base model , lol really a fun truck) since then I have really fallen for those 73-79 trucks . I owned a 1989 s10 blazer with a 4.3 nice little truck but too many miles for the tranny ( 194,000) and it died ( I am sure my heavy foot didnt help)
I can apreciate all of the big 3 companys as I have driven them ..
The 4x4 chevy I mentioned was a vortech 350 and very impressive , but chevy just isnt me . I dont really mind what I drive as long as it get's me there but I prefer the fords .
I think that if chevy and dodge owner's come in here and bash fords that is;nt cool and its really immature . I don't go on their sites and bash them so grow up ..This is a ford site if you own a chevy or dodge, but like ford's then you are Welcome in my book!!! Now that I think of it this is supposed to be The Ford verses the competition not dodge, chevy , cummins ,duramax, verses FORD! lol

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
the point is im glad i was so openminded about buying this truck because even tho i was so biased against fords being a chevy guy there seriously isnt a day that goes by that i dont thank myself for buying such a dependable vehicle...and a 92 at that...i mean how many 92s can you hop into and not worry about anything going wrong?
but let's also remember that nissan is owned by FORD and Toyota is owned by Chevy.

But not the other green!
