so my 5.0 v8 started acting up a while ago it wouldn't start right after running for a while then it began running rough if i drove it to hard i replaced the distributor cap, spark plugs, spark plug wires, coolant temperature sensor, the thermostat, thermostat gasket, fuel filter, egr valve, air filter and some other stuff and still don't understand whats wrong sometimes if i get it started i can keep it running by fluttering the gas pedal or just flooring it but it lacks all power any idea's at this point would be great thanks a lot for reading.
It has a spark at the distributor found that out the hard way
and....you need to be very descriptive since you have the truck... Did it start??? Very often with these trucks, after running awhile they stop running, and may start up again, when it cools off. A few ignition parts suffer this, the PIP circuit (inside the distributor) generally replaced with a new rebuilt distributor. The ignition control module ICM, generally replace with a new one, ignition coil, a relay, the computer, fuel pump, and a few others, you see the problem here. Checking for spark and finding it when the truck won't start, would maybe point to checking the fuel pressure. Checking for spark and not finding it on a warm motor, would point to the items listed above. Its an elimination game that you need to play, thoroughly read through those 2 links above. You need to have a full understanding of how things work, if you intend to fix her, and not have a shop do it.
