flowmaster 40 vs 50?

I'm not sure what model of magnaflow I have on my V10 but I had someone pull up next to me the other day allow with a V10 and said they can't stand there flow master the sounds ****ty and wanted to know what I was running. I don't know what's under there since it was already done when I got the rig

Dont get too stuck on the idea of making your V10 sound good. Very few do. I have never seen one in person, but I have seen videos of them occasionally. Mostly V10s sound really bad and I dont think anyone can deny that lol. But when someone REALLY tries, they can make them sound pretty good. Its just not as easy as with some vehicles. I think the magnaflow will make it sound better than a flowmaster, but I also don think the magnaflow will make it sound good by itself.

I have seen a V10 straight piped and open manifolds. Both sounded god awful lol

Not sure why you think the op has a V10 , I have an 03 5.4 with a flowmaster 50 and like it , little bit of rumble but still quite in the cab

Just cause the V10s were more popular. The 5.4 for some reason is much easier to make sound good. I had one in my F150.

For the V10, I like the Flowmaster BB50 (Big Block series). This is the really big boy, and the best flowing and sounding. For some inexplicable reason, FM offers something like 4 different mufflers with a 50 in the name.... From obnoxiously loud to bearable.

The FM website says that the Flowmaster BB50 is the quietest muffler they sell, that being said how does it compare to stock? I know the Force II kit comes with a FM 70 series.
The Flowmaster mufflers are actually well built mufflers but the aluminized steel is prone to rust bad in rough winter enviroments. Keeping them painted helps them last. For the V10 a larger Flowmaster muffler sounds the best IMO. The Magnaflows sound kinda blah to me.

What dkf said. The BB50 is definitely a bit louder than stock, but NOT obnoxious. You can still carry on a normal conversation even when pulling a 10K load up a 5 mile grade. That was important to me. It also will not **** off the neighbors at 5 in the morning.
It also doesn't have much of that rattly/tinny sound or resonant drone that most FM's have. I normally hate the "Flowmaster sound", but the BB50 on V10 is the exception.
