How do u think my truck will sound if i straight-pipe it with the cats still on it, it is a 4.0, i want to to pop and crack on deceleration and i want it to have a semi deep tone and i want it to be really loud, how do u think it will sound?
Boy, you know... this question really depends on the application as well. Straight pipes on a race motor sound great. On a stock type motor, I think a nice pair of tuned mufflers sound better.
I have a '76 Ford Bronco pre-runner type truck that I race in a local off road race circuit here in Wisconsin/Michigan. I'm running a 580 HP 331 cu in small block in it. RPM cut-off at 7400 RPM (it''ll run a lot higher than that). Motor is a product of Keith Craft racing engines www.keithcraft.com. The way it sounds with straight pipes just cannot be duplicated on a stock type motor.
Why not just try it out yourself man... that's the only way you're gonna find out if its the sound/volume you are loooking for. My truck will sound totally different straightpiped than yours will too. Its always fun trying out different exhaust setups anyway
