Question Stainless Step Rails?

Okay... I've got a little money and I'm thinking stainless step bars.

Oh yeah... I'm just about to get my '99 PSD Supercab in Wedgewood Blue. I think Stainless Step Rails would look great.

Question... what did you guys get, why, and what problems have you had? I live in Ontario where they use a ton of salt in the winter, so I'm concerned about pitting/oxidation in the winter.

Looking for the consensus of the group.

I got the factory rails -- the chrome/stainless (not sure which one they are) came as an option on my vehicle. I'm happy with them so far. Stainless will last if you take care of it by washing the road salt off as often as you can.

I'd pop for the REAL stainless bars, I've got the factory chrome ones (they threw them in cheap) and after one Canadian winter (very similar to a Buffalo winter ), they're already showing quite a few rust spots.

They're supposedly guaranteed against corrosion for 3 years, so you can bet they'll be getting replaced come the 3rd year.

Stainless Step Rails?

The dealer installed ICI step bars on my truck before I bought it. The stainless is fine, but there is no paint left on the mounting brackets after 10 months. It has all flaked off and the brackets have turned brown. I have sent one e-mail to ICI but have not gotten a response so I guess I will have to call them.

I went with DeeZee stainless nerf bars on my 2000 CC. I don't think Idaho winters are near as bad as Buffalo's, but we get our share of salt/cinders on the road. Nerf bars are showing no rust at all.

Good Luck

I got the dealer to throw on some Lauverne (spelling??) SS Nerf's. They have been on for 2 Iowa winters. I have not polished them or anything special. In fact I don't wash my truck as often as I should. They have a few spots on them but with some elbow grease they would be as good as new.
