Hi all, I just landed my dream job, and therefore I'm making a pretty decent amount of money, now the reason I'm saying that is because I want to start upgrading the performance in my truck... My dilemma is this, I have plenty of mechanics experience, but absolutely zero experience in performance, so I have no idea where to start... I want to be able to get as maximum of a gain in hp as I can... And like I said, money is not really an issue, lets just say my budget is 10G over a period of a couple of months to put into this truck
Its a 2WD 5.4 triton automatic trans

Reason: more info
Get a ram air intake, a K&N filter, get some headers, remove the cats, make it dual exhaust, and get some glasspacks. Those are all on my list to do but with kids I don't get much money to spend on unnecessary things.
Personally if your willing to go all out and stretch it out a few months then I will would raid ModMax, Summit Racing, and Troyer Performance and build a mother of all 2 valve engine/transmission combos.
blower for sure but before you go doing that you want to know your compression and if you have cast or forged parts. im sure you know this as a mechanic but you dont want to build a badass engine and then have it blow a month later. also if you want a fast get up and go engine id look into a swap for a chevy engine or for a ford 460. chevys are RPM engines, fords are torque engines. Chevys would have better top speed and since your wanting high performance your also going to be running high RPM. just my 2 cents.
If your going to make a badazz truck, start with a forged 2V 5.4 short block. Send your heads to be redone with stage 2 or 3 porting. Get some good performance cams.
Then decide on your supercharger setup. Build the fuel system, race build the tranny. Have it all custom tuner. And go whoop some cheby azz! lol

i agree i wouldnt put a chevy in it cause i like torque to much. but they are all domestic and it all comes down to if your a torque guy or a rpm guy.
Yeah,,,you kinda need plenty of torque for a truck to go fast.
Now,,if I was building a car,,,that wasn't a Mustang.
Like any-other car, I would probably put a Chevy motor in it. I think there a lot cheaper to build too.
