Have a 2008 F350 CC 4x4 V10 and a 2001 Excursion 4x4 V10 currently. Have had no issues with both. Glad I did not buy the 2008 in the 6.4 as it does not appear to get much better fuel mileage.

Prior to that had a 2004 CC V10. All have been great. They dont pull like a diesel, but I dont drive worried about what is going to break next and cost me a lot of money to fix.

burgf250, I couldn't agree more about worrying about the PSD breaking down.

I would buy another if I was looking for another truck
I had a 01 Dodge 2500 diesel and every time it broke it would cost at least $500 to get it fixed, and replacing the injector pump was I think $2000. For what that truck all cost me in repairs I could have put a new engine in my 08 F250. Love the power, the quietness and smoothness, dislike the mileage but since most days it sits in my driveway and I walk next door to work and we take my dad's 08 F250 6.4 I still only fill up every 3-4 weeks
The truck is almost paid for so I plan to keep it for awhile, rather buy a little extra gas than make more monthly payments.
And my dad's diesel doesn't get enough mpg's more to make it worth buying a diesel for my needs

I would buy a diesel under a few conditions.

1.) It would have to be new(er) and still under warranty.

2.) Get rid of it before the warranty expires to avoid costly repairs.

3.) Have enough money to buy it because newer diesels are expensive.

The only thing that stopped me from buying a diesel is the fact that I have NO idea how to work on one. A gas motor I can work on, especially when I'm out in the desert (which I have). If I had a diesel and it broke down out there, I'd be in a world of hurt.

I really don't think I would. I had mine for 12 years. It was a good truck. Never had any probs with it except for towing. Would always kick back and forth in overdrive towing. Even with lighter loads. The weather would make a big difference in the way she ran also. Would run like a scalded ape one day and next would fell sick. Did that from the day I bought it. I did like the snappy throttle. I tow more than I used to so finally upgraded to a diesel 2011 6.7 The v10 doesn't even come close to compare to the new truck. I was due for a new truck though had the v10 for since Aug of 99. So hopefully the 6.7 will lase me 10-15 years.

Also a big difference between the 2v and the 2005-2010 3v V10's with the Torqueshift. Hope you enjoy your 6.7.

Yea after I drove it I couldn't resist. I got a smoking deal on it also. I have been all over the 6.7 site really only prob I seen was rick and HPFP and that was a isolated incident I think. Been on other sites also and haven't seen any probs. I have 3 friends that are diesel mech at ford and all 3 have said haven't seen any coming in for repairs. I haven't drove a 05 up V10 so can't say any experience with it towing. I gave up on my V10 when towing my camper 200 miles in a 15-mph head wind wouldn't go over 60 and got 5.5 mpg. My family was out growing it anyway was a ext cap and my 2 boys didn't really fit in the back anymore.

I don't follow other brands like I do Ford but it seems as though Ford is the only one to have put 4 different diesel engines in their trucks since 2002. I think Cummins had one recent displacement change and isn't the Duramax still a 6.6L? The rest were just power changes. Tough to feel confident in a product if the manufacturer doesn't either. 5.4 and 6.8 were around for 10 years and the V10 still goes on in Med Duty. Even the 7.3 lasted for about that. Hopefully the 6.7 can stand the test of time.

Yeah I am still wondering why Cummins and the Chevy diesels can still use the same block and up their HP/TQ and stay within EPA air standards, and why Ford couldn't do the same thing with the 7.3. I just believe there was a big pissing match between Ford and International and it all went to hell when the 6.0 came out. Ford really needed to cut a deal with Cat and be done with it IMHO.

I'm pretty sure the 6.7 is around to stay. Time will tell though. 6.7 is a ford built motor unlike the dodge or chevy.

I don't care who builds it, just do it right.

I've been diesel free for 3 years. I'm not willing to gamble on diesels anymore. Too expensive to keep after warranty runs out. Glad Ford still makes the V10's!
