2002 7.3l 4x4

I am looking at a this truck but it has 306,000 miles on it. Probably going to go drive it this weekend but what kind of price should I be looking at for this given the rather large amount of miles? If it is in really good shape and drives well what would i be looking at for a transmission and how many more miles till I am looking at having major work done on the motor? Would I be looking at having it rebuilt and if so what would that run, I have seen 3 or 4k thrown out there but seems like that was for the 6.0.

I know its going to need the normal ball joints, suspension and what not but what else will need to be replaced that isn't a normal wear and tear item that goes out after this kind of mileage?

thanks,

I am determined to get one of these trucks, don't care on the engine just want something good and I am also a cheap skate so looking for a good deal as i am not afraid to get my hands dirty and do work myself. Just wanted to give some input on my train of thought here.

I wouldnt be scared of a 7.3 L with 300k miles on it. They are good for twice that without a rebuild if its been taken care of. If its been taken care of, the transmission is good for another 100k too. Probably worth $6k if its in good condition.

That is right about what I was thinking, now the debate is to go for this 02 with the 300k miles on it for $6900 or go with the 02 lim with a V10 that has 134K miles on it for $8900.
I would think i could talk the 7.3l down to closer the 6k but dont think i am getting the 8900 down so. I am not going to be towing and most of the time it will be my DD and I live less than 5 miles from work. On that note, I know i have seen that the 6.0l really dont like to sit or be driven short distances, is that a 6.0 thing or a diesel thing? As if the short trips will cause issues the mpg of the 7.3 isnt worth it.

thanks,
