Bad Run
I have an 1986 Ford F250 4x4 with a 7" Lift with a complete new Jasper Engine and Transmission with 1000 miles on the engine. My brother completely rebuilt the the truck to include powertrain suspension etc. It has 2 - 20 gal tanks. The engine is a 351 Windsor w/ an Edelbrock manifold and carb. This truck also has a non eletrical starting system, so in case EMP I get to get home WOOT!
For the past several weeks I have had nothing but running issues. After thr ruck warms up I take it for about a 10 mile raduis from the home. However, everytime the truck acts like it wants to die when I when I step on the gas. So I have to pull over turn the truck off and let it sit for 5 mins. But, that is a temporary solution as I have to pull it off the road the next 2 miles and rinse and repeat until i get it home. I thought maybe it could be the pressure build up in the tanks NOPE. I also thought it could be 1 problem with 1 tank so I switched to the other tank NOPE. Lastly, I thought is could be crap in the tanks so I installed 2 clear inline filters 1 going to the carb from the eletric pump and 1 from the supply hose going into the pump, and still I have problems.
I want to check with you guys first and see if I could get a rational opinion.
Many thanks guys....
Thanks for participation in this discussion.
I believe I found the problem.....
I checked the vacuum and discovered a potential problem.
The pump has 2 outlets (obviously) 1 hose was connected to a line under the front of the engine. The other was not connected to anything so I saw another tube (like) line and I put 2 + 2 together and figured it became disconnected. So I am to assume that both lines must be connected....
If 1 hose is to act as a breather then I incorrectly connected it but, I do not believe I am wrong. JIC if i am wrong please inform "the once shade tree mechanic 20 years ago...."
LOL
