Keyless entry code
Just bought a 2000 Excursion Limited. Dealer didnt know keyless entry code. I know on my explorer, there is a place where they put the code elsewhere on the vehicle. where can I find the code on my Excursion ?

There is a credit card that comes in with the owner's manual that has the code. Anytime you lose power (unhook batteries, etc.) the lock reverts back to that code.
If the truck does not have that card in it, the dealer can hook up his code reader and get the code for you. Some dealers will try to make a big deal out of this and charge you $25-$50. It takes about 2 seconds and you should demand it for free.

When I bought mine a couple of months ago, I also needed to obtain the code. Took it back to the dealer, they had to take it in the garage, hook up to the computer. It took approx. 1 hour to complete the download to get the code. Fortunately, I had the agreement that they would program my remote key control, and provide the code.
I sat there while they did this, so could see at least, they had no other solution to get this code. They did tell me that models other than the excursion was easy to find and read with a mirror.

Crawl under the driver's side of your dash and look for the GEM (Generic Electronic Module). It's a box about the size of 4 packs of cigarettes. Some of these modules have a sticker on them with various numbers and codes. If the keyless code is on there, it's usually in bold-face type. Ford has stopped putting this sticker on the vehicles, so yours may or may not have it. Good luck!
