It's getting close to new tire time for my truck, especially with winter looming. Right now it has Dueler A/T Revo's (3/32" remining), which are terrible even when new. I was gung-ho to get the Duratracs until I realized they cost an arm and a leg, and I'd have to order them from our supplier. They have the ST's and STT's in stock for about $20-30 less per tire.
The main thing I'm concerned about is how well they do in snow as well as hardpack. I had Dueler ATs on my S-15, and they would pack up and turn into slicks, becoming useless. The Duratracs have the most siping and the little snowflake symbol, followed by the ST's, then the STT's. I do go ice fishing from time to time and through deep snow, which is why self-cleaning is fairly important, especially when it comes time to pull my friend out of the ditch.
So far I'm leaning toward the STT's. Anyone have any insight to these? A co-worker just got some ST's for his Tahoe, and while they have deep lugs and plenty of sipes, something about the tread pattern appearance doesn't do it for me. The size I'm looking at is 265/75/16 Load range E. Thanks everyone!
