i just recently got a 99 ford ranger its only a 2x4 but i still love it. i want to put a 3-4 inch suspension lift on it but i dont know where to even begin. can anyone explain what to do?
Please dont lift a 2wd, If u want it to go off road better get a 4x4. Trust me i know my rigs.. And then you can lift it . If its IFS, youll have to get some coil spacers or buy a lift kit, and the rear is easy you just need longer shackles, with longer shocks depending on how high you go and then theres also body lifts were you just put in spacers on the rubber mounts. And same gos with TTB, thats just the starting basics.
sory for not replying i was gone with family. but thanks for ur advice and i have no idea if my coil is sprung or not. this is my first car. so i only know enough about cars 2 make me dangerous. hehehe
Alright,, Well all cars and trucks have springs. What your thinking is. Is it TTB or IFS, TTB is what i got and its called twin I beam, and on new rangers they have IFS which is Independent front suspension. And IFS is what you have because its 99. And i can understand with dealing with what you got. But you can sell the truck and get a older 4x4 ranger if you wanted to. but if you dont wana do that. Then your easiest and cheapest lift you can do for a 2wd would be a body lift. Id only do a 2 inch and put on some 33s, and THATS IT. I would go any bigger then that on a 2wd. If you go to summit theyll have a body lift kit for under $100 i think. BUT lit me know befor you do that, there are things ull have to watch out for.
Ford sold a 2 wheel drive ranger a few years ago that looked like a 4WD my uncle had one not sure why they did that but it looked cool. Sorry I don't have any info on a lift but PLEASE don't call your truck a car!! Congrats on the ranger it should be a good reliable first vehicle.
i think the edge package is what your talking about, a neighbor near me has one, looks like a 4wd, heck it might even sit higher than mine. (both are stock height) at least with a 2wd if you lift it to put bigger tires on, you only need to regear one differential. id rather see a lifted 2wd than a lowered one. a body lift might be a easier way to go, dont know what youd be able to find for the front suspention, rear you could just use different springs or lift blocks. maybe use edge-model front end parts to give the front end lift. or crank the torsion bars. it will ride stiffer though.

I think you might be right. I recall being next to one in my truck a few weeks back and I was wondering what size rims and tires he had (traffic started before I could get a look). But it sat higher than my Sport for sure.
