Air Horn

I would like to add an air horn for kicks and giggles. I have already found the one I want and vehicle does not specifically out law it.

Since air horns are normal on big rigs, I dont see an issue. I will NOT be installing train horns because I think they are excessively loud, and I dont like the train sound. I have chosen a nice horn that is for a truck.

My question comes to how should it be actuated?
Any suggestions?

There are three options.

1. Push Button
2. Lanyard
3. Wire in stead of factory horn (if this option is used, I would consider including a selector switch to select the two horns.

Push button. And hide it somewhere stealthy, yet easy to get to. Keep it clean.
Horn would be my second choice

My buddy has a push button for his train horns right under the dash in his silverado

I have no idea what that looks like. Lol
The horn would be the cleanest option, but hardest i'd assume.
Push button would be second cleanest and easiest.

Pic of the dash?

Splicing into the horn wire is really easy.

This is the F650 dash mod. Its the lower dash part from, you guessed it. An F650
Generic google photo:

There are two versions. Thats the "Automatic" version. The switch panel covers a hole where the push button automatic transmission box goes. There is a "Manual" version, which hugs the dash more to allow the manual shift lever room to move. However both work in manual F250s

Hm haha i had no idea what you meant by that. Pretty neat.
And okay, even if the horn is easy, itd still be nice to have it on a separate thing. But thats just me.

I just put in new fogs and they coulda plugged into the factory connectors, but i chose to have em on an independent switch just for ****s and giggles

Plus theres something satisfying about having a bunch of buttons in your rig. Like the bat-mobile. (has to be clean though)

Trey save your self the hassle of doing it your self on the 650 dash and just get the Riffraff one. I thought I could do it easier but I ended up getting all the switches and bracket from Riffraff anyways. Riffraff Diesel: Riffraff Custom Auto Dash Kit

If you are planning on tying it into your original stock horn on the steering wheel it is very easy...i've done this before...just take out your original horns and tap/solder into the wires that run to it..basically you are replacing your original horn with an aftermarket air horn...tie in the positive and negative leads to the air compressor then run the air hose to the horn...easy!!!! (I hid my horn in the wheel well and tied into the stock horn so you cant tell)

I wouldnt do that because I want the option to have a factory horn also. I would wire both horns to a selector switch in the cab. Thanks though.

I plan on adding an 'air horn' when I get some money. I am going a different route. I am going to buy a Whelen siren with two of the 120dB sirens. I will probably never use the siren, but will use the horn a lot.

I know of no law in Texas that prohibits the presence of installed emergency equipment. You can mount a full size red/blue lightbar if you want along with siren. It is when you use it on public roads where it becomes unlawful. No harm having a siren as long as you aren't pulling over people.

On my F-350 I had my air horns wired to the factory horn button on the steering wheel via a selector switch. The selector switch allowed me to use either the stock horn or the air horn. I installed the selector switch because my wife really didn't like the air horns and didn't want to use them. One note on doing it this way was it put a short time delay in firing the air horn. I have swapped the whole system over to my F-250 and just use one of my upfitter switches to fire the air horn's solinoid. It's not a momentary contact switch but it works fine.
