starting issues

my 85 f150 has trouble starting warm. of course the first thing i think of is choke problems. i did a dsII conversion some time back and installed a non feedback carb on my I6. ever since then the truck starts great cold but once its warm it will crank over a second then the starter kicks out like it thinks the truck is running. as i said i think it is a choke problem and ive adjusted the choke as i believe i should. now im starting to wonder if its actually the starter switch. anyone have any insight on this?

Using a small piece of wire, jump 3 & 5 and see if the problem persists; this is the same as turning the key to START but without power to the ignition system.

If the problem persists, I would probably replace the solenoid (assuming all else is good).

If the problem goes away, that implies the culprit is between the solenoid & column-mounted ignition switch (inclusive).

I would be investigating the switch, probably cleaning & adjusting it.
