Help! 3 on-the-tree adjustments
3 speed shifter adjustments. I have replaced a very worn out shifter collar and now I only have 2nd gear. I removed inner "tube" to replace collar and don't really have a clue to the correct postion to get shifter tp work correctly. Any drawing or advice will be greatly welcome.

I 'm not sure if this answers your question, but i have a Nova that had a 3 on the tree. To adjust its linkage I put the tranny in neutral and the shifter then unscrewed the linkage till it was the correct length. When I put a side shifter 4 speed in I put the shifter in neutral and the tranny in neutral and made the linkage pieces connect to both ends, the principle is the same.

Thanks for the help. My problem boiled down to the inner tube being to tight through the collar. Was not moving up and down for shift pattern. Working good now....If I could just get the dang turn signal wiring back in place.

Use a coat hanger to fish up the colum. Tape some string to the hanger and pull the string though, next Lay the wires flat (side bay side) not in a roll. Use black tape and tape them flat. When you get near the end tap in the string and tie string around the wires. Now get some clean grease and lube up the wires you just taped over. Pull the srting while feeding the wires from the other end.
It's a pain but it works.
