Somone please tell me that the only reason my 1971 f250 camper special will not start any more is becuase I have taken it down to the frame to clean it up in rear and removing the rear tank has caused this temporary problem? I would rather not have to go through and trouble shoot the whole fuel system. (Oh yeah, the trouble began shortly after removed and there currently is not fuel to the carb. none.)
No fuel from or too the pump. I was wondering if it had to do with the rear tank being removed causing the fuel not to pick up, but it sounds like the two tanks don't affect each other. What's weird is the problem didn't exist until after I pulled the tank. Ill have to check the pick up in the front tank
I guess.
old fuel tanks do collect particles of all sorts, be it rust from the inside or dirt particles every time you remove the filler cap, it's possible some was disturbed & has blocked the end of your pipe.
I've have found this on both Morris Minors I've owned & friends classics.
The best way I've seen to remove this crud is to drain the tank completely, put a 1ft length of good sized chain & shake it about for a few minutes, flush & repeat then use a good fuel tank sealer, I believe POR do one, then your tank is good as new inside. hope this helps.
