Have a 74 f250 highboy. the truck has been modded. has newer cab, bronco fuel tank, some other shaddy work the PO did.
Was chasing a bull in the field the other day. it was the first time ive had it offroad since i bought it and the suspension is solid as hell.
i was wondering do all highboys ride like that or has someone stuffed arched leafs on my truck.
It is 100% a highboy, but i am a modder not a restorer. i want a smooth ride and my lifted 79 f250 is a hell of a lot nicer to bomb across the field in.
I will be putting a reverse shackle flip on the rear with 78-79 f250 leafs and remove the blocks, will be smoother and squat when i mud race.
the front is in need of a different diff so i think a 78-79 high pinion 44hd open knuckle will do. and remove a leaf or two from the front.
My 74 rides 100% smoother than my 94.....think caddy compared to a wagon....anyway it is an all original highboy as well and handles and rides very well both on and offroad. Maybe the PO did an add a leaf or some other mod to the truck.
my truck rides very rough. i have pro comp shocks and highboy springs and its still stiff. flexes good, but rides stiff and heavy. But it rides good. if you hit nasty big bumps offroad at speed sure it bad but highways and street manners are great.
i was wondering do all highboys ride like that or has someone stuffed arched leafs on my truck.
What else do you expect, honestly , these were strictly work trucks back in the day, not the cushy "trucks" marketed to soccer mom's these days.....depending on GVWR highboys had 5-7 leaf springs up front and 9-11 leaf springs in the rear, which makes for a very stiff ride.
