I just had my '53 F-250 delivered. The original motor was pulled, degreased and magnafluxed. The block and heads look like new, and all of the original parts are there. I am dropping a 351W into the truck, so I don't need the original motor. What is it worth? I am also selling the original tranny in original condition. It had 50,000 original miles on it. Value? Please advise. Feel free to contact me if interested. I will be posting it once I can decide on a price. Thanks!!
Im guessing its a flathead V8 since you used the plural "heads".
Im always interested in another block, where are you located? Prices vary a lot around the country.
Any cracks show up under the magnaflux and do you have the report to back it up?
I live in Rochester, NY. Where are you? I was told by the previous owner no cracks when they magnafluxed the motor. I don't have a report, but may be able to get one. Let me know if you are interested and what you would be willing to pay. Thanks! Tom
I just pulled the flathead V8 and tranny out of my 54 F100 and "gave" it to a fellow FTE noter.
I had no intention of using the engine.
While it spun, I have no idea whether it would have run or not.
I would have had to borrow a friends pick up to haul it away.
He supplied a 12 of beer (which he didn't drink any of) and he supplied the engine hoist (saving me the $40. rental cost).
We were both happy. I realize this doen't do a lot to drive up your bargaining power in here, but.....you asked.
Thanks for the advice guys! I have somebody driving over Saturday to take a look. Now to get out in the garage and drop that tranny! Sorry Kenny. I did not intend to solicit a buyer. I was trying to get a value so I could post it for sale. No real idea of what it was worth. Anybody know where I can get a really nice tailgate, running boards and set of rear fenders? I posted the same question on the body and paint forum but no replies. Should probably post a new thread here, but what the heck. I really appreciate you guys! I'm an old Plymoputh guy up until now, so this is a whole new deal for me, and I"M LOVIN" IT!! Thanks!
