New Build In- Progress!!
-0- deck the block and cross hone for chrome rings
Mill cylinder head .060
Port and polish: Any suggestions on measurements?
Larger pistons: .060 with chrome rings
Clifford Performance 264H Cam
New lifters: Should i go bigger or smaller?
High lift springs
new retainers
new valve locks
heat treated push rods
new timing set
oversized valves
Along with port and polish i am going to smooth out the runners. sand my valve guides down a bit to give them a smoother surface and more of a football shape.
Was also going to have my exhaust ports enlarged. Guy i know has a full flow test machine so i can get peak flow from intake to exhaust.
Also thinking of going with the redline fuel injection system. I know most people say just go megasquirt but i want something unique. Plan on doing a dual throttle body set up. 40lb injectors.
Also with the fuel injection system i plan on adding a turbo for forced induction. This will be the make or break of this motor and allow the power i want without straining the other parts to much.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome. I read a thread by someone named Nitesaber but he never followed up on his build and i am trying to do something a little more intense so if you know anything or like i said have any suggestions or comments that would be great!!! Thanks
Dual TBs and 40lb injectors are total overkill. Even if you're planning to spin it to 7,000 rpm a single 1000cfm TB would have more than enough flow.
In what will you be installing this engine? What's you total hp goal?
Well I will check into the throttle bodies and see how much air they pull.
What Cam would you suggest, I am not looking for a race Cam, only reason i chose the 264H is it has an average of 80% torque off idle. Idle being around 800rpm to 1100rpm
I can't give you a specific recommendation on the cam. Turbos change everything. Call Schneider, Crower, Isky, and a couple of other folks who grind cams to see what they recommend. An off the shelf cam may be fine. Isky sells a cam for turbo engines. But a phone call doesn't cost anything.
