Replaced CKP sensor, and today...
I replaced the CKP sensor on Sunday. I only replaced it because there was a little oil getting past the o-ring. The old sensor was fine, and since I had a whole new unit, I repaced the unit (not just the o-ring).
Started it up to go to work this morning and when I drive away I hear a hissing noise. Sounds like I'm blowing air. Truck was fine when I parked it on Friday, and it sat all weekend.
Is there any reason that changing the CKP sensor might cause something with the turbo to get outta whack (electrically, VGT or something)?
I've got dieselsite intercooler boots and they're fine and tight; while it's running, with the hood up, I can hear the hissing and it sounds like it's coming from the turbocharger. I also noticed some oil on the outside of the turbo; but so far from feeling around, all the charge tubes/hoses are fine. Boost gauge seems to be showing normal boost and it doesn't feel any weaker. No CELs.
Any ideas?
Thanks
got home and upon closer inspection the boot at the compressor outlet had slowly worked its way off at the bottom and was leaking air.
I like a cheap repair like that.
